Demanding Bodily Autonomy: Increasing Accountability and Transforming Coercion, Mistreatment, and Abuse

Description: The workshop will focus on the persistent issues of mistreatment, abuse, and coercion faced by women living with HIV, particularly in the context o f their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Despite ongoing advocacy, these violations continue to occur. Let’s bring together advocates and activists to examine current data on these SRHR violations and explore innovative efforts to increase accountability. Participants will gain human rights documentation skills and collectively strategize for transformative advocacy to combat these violations.

Outcomes: 

Participants will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the structural and interpersonal mistreatment, coercive practices, and violations of bodily autonomy experienced by women living with HIV. 

Explore evolving strategies to increase accountability for SRHR violations through innovative, women-led responses, legal avenues, and human rights documentation.

Acquire practical human rights documentation skills to support local advocacy efforts and promote transformative changes in their communities and healthcare settings.
