#AIDS2026, the 26th International AIDS Conference, will take place in Munich, Germany, and virtually from 26 to 31 July 2026. #TransAgenda #PutPeopleFirst
This plenary brings together global HIV leaders to reaffirm PLHIV leadership as central to the political, scientific, and moral direction of the HIV response. The session explores how PLHIV‑led systems can be sustainably resourced, how integration can uphold rights and continuity of care, and how global institutions can embed PLHIV leadership in governance, evidence generation, and accountability. It sets the tone for a decade where PLHIV leadership drives U=U, shapes policy, and influences global HIV strategies.
This session examines the future of HIV science and the systems that must support it. The session highlights the need for financing models, integration frameworks, and accountability mechanisms that are anchored in PLHIV leadership. It explores how emerging technologies, long‑acting treatments, diagnostics, and cure research must be grounded in lived experience, human rights, and equity. This session also explores how global actors must dismantle stigma, criminalization, and structural barriers to ensure scientific progress benefits all PLHIV.
In this interactive breakout session, participants work across four thematic areas to identify the political, programmatic, and structural responses needed for the next decade. Each group develops concrete recommendations that assert PLHIV leadership as indispensable to sustaining U=U, protecting rights, and shaping the future of HIV programs, science, and systems.
These partner-led sessions provide space for focused, technical discussions on each partner’s respective priority areas.
